The History of the Company that has become Emalto Group – Emalto Mechanical Industry, Torque Diesel, Emalto Agribusiness and Emalto Foundation – started up in 1974. At that time, Alexandre Torquetti retired after 23 years working at Companhia Aços Especiais Itabira (Itabira Special Steels Company) - Acesita . In his simple backyard workshop, Torquetti supplied some orders, provided small services, starting up therefore Estruturas Metálicas Alexandre Torquetti (Alexandre Torquetti Metallic Structures) - EMALTO.

In that same year the Company moved into a little bigger shed and employed eight workers. In1976, the small businessman was invited do set up a construction site on Acesita’s premises, during that company expansion. At the end of the expansion, new horizons came up to EMALTO, which started supplying Usiminas and Açominas with products, as well as changing parts for Acesita. Since then the Company has invested in state-of-the-art technology and products and service quality.

Nowadays EMALTO, the Group’s pioneer company, has about 600 collaborators working in two sites, with a total capacity to industrialize 2,500 tons of steel. Its most recent expansion (2009/2010 ) has been provided with R$ 25 millions (of reals) of investments in sheds and equipment, with a 3,000-TON PRESS, a CRANE F0R 80 TONS., ELECTROMAGNETS, WELD HOLDERS, a PLASMA CUT BENCH and a fully-automatic production line to produce metallic structures with a SHAPECUTTING ROBOT, a SAW, DRILLS, WELDING MACHINES, STRAIGHTENERS, ROLL TABLES and a JET AND PAINTING AUTOMATIC MACHINE, as well as TRAVELING BRIDGES and GANTRIES. Due to this expansion, which reasserts EMALTO’s status as a country-wide company, site 2 turns to be EMALTO METALLIC STRUCTURES LTD., another company of the group, adjusting its registered name to its new mission.

To Torquetti family’s patriarch, the Company’s greatest property is its philosophy, which brings together state-of-the-art technology, family union, love for work and deep respect for human being and the community. According to Alexandre Torquetti, this is the recipe that makes EMALTO a unique company, genuinely Brazilian and a family-company that knows how to gather the best of world know-how and the best of Brazilian spirit.
